Veteran highlife musician, Nana Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has fired back at those trending the hashtag #FixYourSelf to counter the hashtag #FixTheCountry.
The legendary musician has tasked the ruling government to rather fix the country rather than asking the citizens of the country to fix their attitudes. The legendary hi-life artist in an exclusive interview with Hammer Nti on Kumasi-based Pure FM’s Flagship entertainment program “Hammer Time” stated that the government and its officials fired back at the government over the privileges they enjoy.
According to the musician, the government and his officials enjoy certain priviledges that the ordinary Ghanaian does not enjoy so don’t feel the pain of the new movement. Hence its absurd for government to tell citizens to fix themselves instead of delivering their promises.
“You appealed for our votes. You said you will fix it so we voted for you, so you have to fix it. You do not tell us to fix ourselves or give us excuses.”
“You have been voted for, the downtrodden are only seeking food, shelter, and clothing. They do not enjoy the privileges given you like ex-gratia, free fuel, and accommodation. Even other professionals do not enjoy the same so you have to fix it for us.”
“We only want good living conditions as compensation. We are not kids, don’t tell us to fix ourselves. Fix the country for us. If they say fix it. They have to fix it because they have been voted for to fix it.” Nana Gyedu-Blay Ambolley stated on Pure FM.”
