Funeral Songs Are More Popular Than Any Other Music – Bisa Kdei
Highlife singer Bisa Kdei has addressed criticisms labelling his music as “funeral songs”.
In a recent interview with Adom TV’s Maame Boatemaa, Bisa Kdei explained that while some may try to degrade his music with this label, it doesn’t affect him.
He pointed out that funeral songs, in fact, tend to be the most popular in the country, played at major events and widely appreciated.
“People who have nothing better to do follow foolish trends. Someone started this agenda on Twitter, and it caught on,” he said.
“But isn’t it true that funeral songs are some of the most popular in Ghana? We talk too much sometimes. Instead of supporting those who are working hard, some people make social media a platform for unnecessary comments.”
Despite the chatter, Bisa Kdei remains unfazed by the criticism.
He emphasized that what bothers him is how this conversation has been amplified on social media, not the comments themselves.
“It doesn’t bother me when they call my music funeral songs. It’s how they try to make it a huge agenda that’s annoying. Other than that, I don’t care. Everyone is built to talk about someone, but how you handle it is what matters,” he added.
